A tracking pixel is a small script that lets Pearl Diver capture visitor activity on your website. This guide covers where to get your pixel, how to install it on common platforms, and how to confirm it's firing.
✅ Before you start
- Your unique tracking pixel code, a JavaScript snippet for your domain. You'll get this from your sales executive or onboarding specialist when you sign up.
- Access to your website's code, theme editor, or tag manager.
Add the pixel to your site
Install the snippet in a global location on your site, a <head> or <body> tag, or deploy it through Google Tag Manager. Instructions for common platforms follow.
Tip: A successful install shows up when you inspect your page: right-click, choose Inspect, and search for code containing "pearldiver.io".
WordPress, via a code snippets plugin
- Install and activate a header/footer plugin such as WPCode, if you don't already have one.
- Go to Code Snippets → Header and Footer.
- Paste the script into the Header section and save.
- If a caching or speed plugin uses lazy loading, add an exception so the pixel can fire. See "How to Identify and Correct Lazy Loading for Your Website Tracking Pixel" in this Help Centre.
- Clear your website cache so the pixel loads immediately.

Adding the tracking pixel through WPCode's Header and Footer settings.
WordPress, via the theme file editor
- Go to Appearance → Theme File Editor.
- Open
header.php. - Paste the tracking pixel code just before the closing
</head>tag. - Click Update File to save your changes.
- If a caching or speed plugin uses lazy loading, add the same exception as above.

Pasting the tracking pixel directly into header.php.
Note: Adding the code to a single page rather than the global header? Switch to your editor's Text or HTML view first — the Visual editor will alter the script.
Google Tag Manager
- Log in to Google Tag Manager and select Add Tag.
- Choose the Custom HTML tag type.
- Paste the tracking pixel code into the HTML field.
- Set the trigger to fire on all pages.
- Save and publish the tag.
Wix
- Open your Wix site editor and go to Settings → Custom Code.
- Add the script to the Head Code section.
- Save and republish your site.
cPanel
- Open File Manager and find your website's directory.
- Edit the HTML file where the pixel should load.
- Paste the code and save the file.
Shopify
- Go to Online Store → Themes → Actions → Edit Code.
- Open
theme.liquidand paste the tracking pixel code. - Save the file.
Note: Running more than one pixel? Use Google Tag Manager instead of editing theme.liquid directly.
HubSpot Website Manager
- Go to Settings → Website → Advanced Options.
- Paste the tracking pixel code into the Head HTML field.
- Save your changes.
✅ Verify it's working
- Open your site in an incognito or private window.
- Right-click and choose Inspect, or press F12.
- Open the Application panel and expand Cookies.
- Look for a cookie named "tuid". If it's there, the pixel loaded correctly.

Confirming the pixel fired by checking for the tuid cookie.
Note: If the tag doesn't appear, lazy loading may be delaying it by a minute or two, which can undercount your traffic. See "How to Identify and Correct Lazy Loading for Your Website Tracking Pixel" to fix it.
